Concentration of Heavy metals in singed cattle hides

Heavy metals are bio-accumulative and cause a lot of health related problems. It is therefore necessary to ascertain the potential public health and toxicological hazards of some of these heavy metals in food meant for human consumption. This book thereby investigates into the presence and concentration of different heavy metals in cattle hides singed with wood fueled with different substances such as tyres, plastics, engine oil and polystyrene polymers. About the author

Ekenma Kalu is a lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. She is a Veterinary Surgeon by profession and holds a Masters degree from the University of Nigeria Nsukka.
