Sub-Sahara Africa lives in the hope of aid in which those who have ought to give to those without, both mentally and financially. Despite Aid's many years of existence in Africa, the Sub-Saharan African Countries continue to be poor. The problem is that Development of Self-Reliant Initiatives (SRIs) in some Sub-Saharan African Countries and institutions is constrained due to continued reception and reliance on foreign aid, thereby creating dependence on foreign-ready-made solutions to local needs. The book suggests various ways towards achieving self-reliance. Types of aid-tied donations identified include: emergency food stuff, emergency non-food items, emergency water supply, emergency shelter, emergency health and emergency education. The book recommends that the management of African countries and institutions should devise home grown approaches to raise money required towards development of SRIs in a bid to reducing over dependence on donor aid. Also important to mention is empowerment through regular capacity building to harness the needed expertise from among locals for local development purposes.
