This book documents 13 Eritrean education biographies of leading members of the Ministry of Education in Eritrea. They actively have participated in freeing the country located in the eastern part of the African continent and have simultaneously built up the educational system under most difficult circumstances.
A consistently notable contingency was found in all biographic self-reflections, which had decisively influenced the authors and actors curriculums: The three decenniums long fight for Eritreäs independence, the formation of an educational system, and simultaneously the active design of their own education biography.
A biography is always the result of individual perception and acts of interpretation. In that respect, it is the told story of life. The concept of biography places the individuality and subjectivity of the addressee¿s pedagogic actions into the focus point.
These educational biographies are exemplarily for Eritreäs ¿Nation Building Process¿.
About the author
Uwe Wieckenberg (editor) holds M.A in Political Science and Adult Education from the University of Heidel-berg, Germany. Until 2003 he worked as research assistant at the Distance Study Center" of the University of Karlsruhe and at the "Center for Distance Studies and Continuing Education" of the University of Kaiserslautern. Uwe Wieckenberg is founder and owner of the "Institut fur Bildungstransfer e.V." - a non-profit organisation and of the "Bildungstransfer GmbH," a private limited company, both wor-king in the fields of e-learning, distance education and teacher training. Since more than 20 years Mr Wieckenberg has relevant experience as consultant and trainer in international develop-ment co-opera-tion for e-learning, distance learning, blended learning and teacher training programmes."
