About the author










Wilfried Bauer (b. 1963) studied geology at the RWTH Aachen University and earned his PhD in 1995 with a study of the metamorphic basement of the northern Heimefrontfjella in Antarctica. He continued his research on the Precambrian of Dronning Maud Land (Antarctica) and the southern Urals (Russia) as a Principal Researcher at Aachen University.
From 2005 to 2007 he was a Senior Survey Geologist at the British Geological Survey and worked for its International Department on a World Bank funded project in Madagascar. From 2007 to 2014 he was head of the research and development section of an Australian exploration company in Madagascar. Since 2015 he is Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Geosciences of the German University of Technology in Oman.
