The recent wave of Islamization in the Sudan has put spotlight on the efficiency implications of Sudanese Islamic banks. This book attempt to investigate the performance efficiency of Islamic banks in a full-fledged Islamic banking system. The application of Islamic instruments such as Musharakah, Murabahah, Salam and Mudarabah demands professional and well-disciplined risk-management strategies in Islamic banks. This is to minimize the defaults risk that may erode bank's profitability. Islamic instruments should not be treated like conventional loans. It requires greater supervision and monitoring operations. In this regard, labor should be trained to ensure that the Islamic operations succeeded as planned. This book might help both banks' shareholders and government to further understand the problem associate with the operation of Islamic banks. It also gives implications in guiding for the governments when plan deregulation and mergers. The study will also help the management of Islamic banks to assign suitable strategies to avoid further inefficient use of inputs and improve their managerial performance.

Born in Western Sudan (1966). Held faculty positions (1994-2008)at SUST. Ph.D. (Economics) from IIUM. Currently senior economist at IRTI.
