Erich Fromms Sozialpsychologie und sein Konzept des Sozialcharakters stehen im Zentrum seines wissenschaftlichen Erbes. Dr. phil. Rainer Funk, Jg. 1943, ist Psychoanalytiker und lebt in Tübingen. Er studierte Philosophie und Theologie und hat über Erich Fromms Sozialpsychologie und Ethik promoviert. Er war 1974 bis zu seinem Tod 1980 Fromms Assistent. Von Erich Fromm als literarischer Rechte- und Nachlassverwalter eingesetzt, hat er aus dem Nachlass und der Bibliothek Erich Fromms das Erich-Fromm-Archiv aufgebaut und ist im Vorstand der Internationalen Erich-Fromm-Gesellschaft.
