Chitin is a linear polymer of beta-(1, 4)-linked N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) sugar while the Chitinases are the enzymes that are responsible for the breakdown of chitin. Various chitinase genes from different microorganisms have been amplified and are expressed in different hosts so far by various researchers. Present study focused on cloning and expression of hydrolytic enzyme (Chitinase) in Ecoli from Bacillus thuringiensis containing chitinase gene.

Ms. Madiha Mahmood Gillani has done her MS in Biotechnology from Lahore College for Women University(LCWU), Lahore Pakistan. Currently she has appointed as Visiting teaching Assistant in LCWU. She has her major interests in Microbiology and Molecular Biology. She is seeking a career in research labs and aspiring to do Ph.D. in Microbiology.
