Glory lily (Gloriosa superba L.) belonging to the family Liliaceae, originally grown as an ornamental plant for its large and beautiful flowers is now being exploited for its medicinal properties. The tubers and seeds contain an alkaloid, colchicine which is used for curing gout, rheumatism, diseases of liver and spleen. Glory lily is propagated by both tubers and seeds. Major problems in the cultivation of glory lily is multiplication rate through tuber is very low as one tuber produces single plant only and seed germination also very poor, scarcity of planting material and low productivity due to lack of good management, poor pod set and improper harvesting. This book tries to acquire knowledge on effect of provenance of planting material on seed set, seed yield and quality of glory lily and influence of pod and seed set, seed yield and quality by foliar spray.
