About the author

wurde 1940 in Berlin geboren. Er absolvierte eine Druckereilehre und studierte danach an der Kunsthochschule Berlin.
Er illustriert vorwiegend Kinder- und Jugendbücher und ist besonders bekannt für seine Kinderbuchfiguren, den Elefanten Rüssel und die Maus. Diese Reihe hat, vor allem im Osten Deutschlands, Kultstatus erreicht.
Daneben arbeitete er für den Fernsehfunk und gestaltete Plakate für Film und Fernsehen.
Thomas Schallnau lebt freischaffend in Berlin.
