Criminal and criminological aspects of insurance fraud - Insurance fraud: criminological phenomenon

Topicality of the subject of the book is based on the unprecedented prevalence of insurance fraud affected by the financial and economic crisis. There are almost no scientific studies in Latvia on this phenomenon. Insurance fraud s examination as a criminological phenomenon in the context of insurance customers' bad faith, definition of causes and reasons for insurance fraud, as well as theoretical and practical problems arising from the legal framework of insurance relationships and behavioural motivation of the parties.

About the author

Dr. Jelena Alfejeva obtained her doctorate in 2009. Sheworked as a lawyer from 1988, but relation to insurance since 1994. Participated with reports in international conferences. Began to lecture students about insurance from 2007.
