Una mujer en el frente was first published in 1991, in the midst of Russia's political transition, and broke the decades-long silence about the wartime injustices suffered by hundreds of thousands of women at the hands of Russian soldiers.

About the author

Alaine Polcz studied psychology after the end of the World War II and authored books of various types, including a two-volume set of confessions by terminally ill children, and memoirs about death and loss. Una mujer en el frente is her most acclaimed book.
