This work focuses on the exploration of several of the most frequently utilized methods included in analytical bioinformatics, while providing an overview of biological databases that aim to serve scientists in the fields of proteomics and genomic research. Additionally, the design of a simple wxPython program that may be used in the comparison of a pair of sequences is demonstrated. This may be used to provide an overview of matching regions or areas of sequence homology among DNA sequences.
