The display of violent behaviour causes pain, loss of lives and property in families, schools and in the community. Incidents of violence have also resulted in reduced school attendance, impaired concentration, fear, a diminished ability to learn and in some cases, it has caused school closures. The fact that its consequences are grievous, justifies the action for its prevention. Since parents and the entire family setting are a major influence on the child, it is imperative to find out how their child upbrstyles of parenting dispose a child towards violence, in order to curb or prevent its occurrence. Therefore, this book will arm school counselors and administrators as well as parents with knowledge to increase their competences in curbing violence among the youth.

Ajibike Omolola Anuodo was born in Lagos, Nigeria. She holds a Master degree M.A.Ed.in Educational Foundation and Counseling from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. Currently she is a PhD student in Developmental Psychology at Northeast Normal University, Changchun, China.A jibike is currently a lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria.
