Due to the increasing interest of decreasing the amount of green house gases in the atmosphere, one of the methods propose by scientists to reduce the emission of methane is the biofiltration systems implemented in landfills which are aimed to capture the gas generated by the decomposition of the waste and make it travel across natural materials that contain bacterias that allow the oxidation of the methane. This project was obtained from landfills located in the region of Piedmont in Italy. And has as objectives to evaluate and analyze the performance of this systems to determine if these are working as expected. It must be considered that the cost analysis was also developed in order to establish if the investment was worth it.
