Diamagnetic domains called "Condon domains" are investigaited. The origin of these domains is Landau levels arising in a magnetic field and low temperatures in the perfect crystals leading to the de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) effect and domains arising in non-magnetic metals. The differet methods were used. For the first time, by muons the domains were found in all measured metals; by micro-Hall probes domain sructutr was detected on silver; magnetostriction was measured in beryllium; hysteresis was observed in dHvA effect and experimental phase diagram of the Condon domain state are determined for silver and beryllium.

About the author

VITA V.Egorov¿s scientific career started about 1960 in Kapiza institute. The main area of Egorov¿s investigation was the metals in high magnetic fields at low temperatures. There are the Fermi surface of metal, the phenomena of magnetic breakdown and electronic topological transitions. Now it consecrats into phenomena of Condon domains
