I entered Lehigh University's American Studies program to research American militarism and better understand the systemic nature of our endless wars. U.S. participation in WWI, and the brutal suppression of antiwar dissent on the home front, has been omitted from our history books and/or overshadowed by the countless narratives that detail U.S. military victories during WWII. Upon discovering this omitted history through the works of John Dos Passos, a hidden past was revealed and my understanding of contemporary U.S. consumer culture and war-making was illuminated.
