The Chothe Tribe of Manipur - Identity and Microevolution

Formerly known as Purum tribe, the Chothe tribe of Manipur is one of the widely discussed and debated tribes of India signifying international relevance among the anthropologists and sociologists because of their changing identity and practice of clan based cross-cousin preferential type of marriage system. The present work is a field based fresh finding on the identity, genetic markers, physical make-up and microevolution of the tribe.
