The human motor system has many different manifestations. It functions as an important mechanism in the individual's adaptation to the environment. Motor activity, such as motor learning, motor ontogeny, motor diagnostics and motor therapy are all highly respected areas of international research. At the international conference "Sport Kinetics '97" in Magdeburg (September 3-6, 1997) scientists from various countries reported on their latest research results on "Theories of Human Motor Performance and their Reflections in Practice". The posters presented at the conference are published in volume 2 of the proceedings (ISBN 3-88020-333-4). The editor, Peter Blaser, is professor for Sport Kinetics at the Institute for Sport Science of Otto-von-Guericke-University of Magdeburg.
