In this study, we determine the spatial variation of soil organic carbon (SOC) distribution patterns in different land use systems in the BHU campus, Varanasi, which addresses the prediction of the SOC accumulation potential and its impact on changing land use scenario.Land use change is one of the major factors that affects the soil organic carbon content and global carbon balance. Land use changes from forest or grassland to arable agriculture have been and still are significant source for release of former plants and soil carbon into atmosphere.

He has published more than 70 research papers and articles in journals of national and international repute. Mr. A. Barla has completed his dissertation work with Dr. Singh
