Decentralization and Local Development in Egypt - between the years of 1994 and 2011

This book is interesting as it involves different and the most important decentralization initiatives in Egypt between the year 1994 and 2011. These are great initiatives that have started, but it is important that they should remain continuing and also sustainable. Therefore, a presentation of each of the four main initiatives is demonstrated and also positive and negative points in the chosen projects is highlighted. All in all, this work is considerd to be a manuscript in form of a review of the most important and recent decentralization and local development initiatives, in Egypt.

About the author

The author Soraya El Hag,studied political science as an undergraduate and global affairs and public policy in her M.A at AUC. Currently the author works at, the Egyptian Pugwash, a think tank in Egypt. Also worked in development with Hemaya in Sinai woking directly with women and children; yet discovering the important to work with grassroots.
