Amblyopia, also known as lazy eye, is an eye condition characterized by an impaired vision in an eye that often appears normal but can also be out of proportion to associated structural abnormalities of the eye. The disorder affects around 1-5% of people. The visual stimulation either fails to transmit or is poorly transmitted through the optic nerve to the brain for a continuous period of time in people with lazy eye. In some cases like strabismus or crossed eyes, the brain stops the visual processing of one eye to counter double-vision.
