First of all, in Japan, the increasing severity and prolonging of care associated with aging has become a problem. In order to prevent this, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has recommended the development of new preventative care programs. So, our research team also developed a preventative care program and verified its effectiveness. Second of all, the burden on family caregivers is great, and family caregivers who leave their jobs in order to provide care are increasing. In addition, in Japan there is an overwhelmingly large amount of care for the elderly, but family caregivers do not know much about caregiving. Therefore, it is necessary for the families of the elderly to gain information about caregiving. If they were able to learn the methods of preventative care and form connections between family caregivers, the burden on family caregivers would be reduced. Also, as family caregivers are often elderly themselves, they need preventative care. So, we developed a support program for family caregivers and verified its effectiveness.
