At first glance the paintings of Rannva Kunnoy (born 1975, Faroe Islands) seem to consist of a simple monochrome surface on which an interplay between scratch marks and the ghostly frames is staged. On closer inspection a three-dimensional, almost holographic quality comes to light. The shimmering colors and sweeping shapes reinforce the impression that the images give rise to something that never quite becomes tangible. The series is shown alongside another group of works featuring compositions that have bizarre intimations. The arrangement of the lines however never present a clear motif.
