Experiencing the World - Global Learning in Austria: Developing, Reaching Out, Crossing Borders

The fields of Global Learning and Development Education in Europe have developed considerably over the last two decades. Governments, NGOs and educators in European countries now talk about the right of all people to access quality global learning. Meanwhile, little exists by way of systematic documentation or comprehensive histories of global education.

Dr. Hartmeyer's book responds to this problem. It provides an in-depth practitioner reflection on the history of global learning in Austria. It also gives a clear rationale and an impassioned plea for an educational response to issues of global interdependence and development. The methodology used is exemplary for the development of histories of global education in other countries.

This book will be of interest to students of education, to NGOs active in the field, to policy-makers, and to educators interested in the fields of globalisation, education theory and policy, and the role of history in educational change.

This volume is published in association with GENE - GLOBAL EDUCATION NETWORK EUROPE. GENE is the European network of national Ministries and Agencies with responsibility for global and development education. It promotes quality and improvement in global education in Europe through networking, policy learning, peer review, and research.
