This book illustrates the design an offline Arabic handwritten text recognition system using structural techniques and several proposed algorithms. The ultimate aim of handwriting recognition is to make computers able to understand human written texts, with a performance comparable to that of humans. The domain of handwriting in the Arabic script presents unique technical challenges. This is because a handwritten text offers great challenges such as character and word segmentation, character recognition, variation between handwriting styles, different character size.
