Cadmium is a heavy metal detrimental to living beings. Fish is staple food for millions of people. Being aquatic it is prone to numerous detrimental chemicals that might show bioaccumulation and bio-magnification. Cadmium produces changes similar to endosulfan and other pesticides in the organs viz. stomach, hepatic pancreas and intestine, brain, kidney, etc. digestive tract is the amongst first to face the harmful elements. We have explored its effect on different parts of digestive tract in a teleost fish Cyprinus carpio communis, a common carp. Our findings points to deterioration of the fish organs ad valorem. We are emotionally indebted to fishes sacrificed during the assessment period.

About the author

Prof Doctor Ajit Hundet is a renowned teacher of Zoology in Chhattisgarh (India). He has a teaching experience of more than thirty years. He has worked on Genetics, Histochemistry and Toxicology. With a mastery over Endocrinology, Gamete Biology, Endocrinology and Biochemistry he has delivered several lectures in different parts of India.
