Clearwater, Minnesota was always a safe haven for Jennie Phillips, an apprenticing druggist in her father's store in the late nineteenth century. Perhaps the rural community is not as idyllic as she once thought. While delivering a prescription out in the country, she came across the ghost of a murdered Irish girl and becomes obsessed with the unsolved case. Then Jennie struggles with her ethical responsibilities when she learns how some women are using their over-the-counter patent medicines. Now she realizes that for many women, the art of living can be difficult.
