Guarneri (1728), Stradivari (1709), Rogeri (1717), Grancino (1767), Lupot (1778). Deutsch / Englisch

The Violin Market, although continuing to examine the material and thesis presented in Violin Price Determination, is a completely new book with a new perspective. Whereas 'Price Determination' classified violins from the traditional market viewpoint of the maker/seller. The Violin Market represents the viewpoint of the user/buyer or violinist; instead of studying a market whose economic structure is based upon the perceived artistic merits of production, the artistic needs of the user are considered.

The book ist intended - to present market values and classification principles - to aid the violinist to understand his needs and measure his resources, and - to apply this information to guide the selection of a suitable instrument. The book begins by examining the structure of the violin, and goes on to consider instrument classifications (student, orchestral, and soloest violins and bows) are then appraised, and advice is given to aid making purchase decisions. The book is illustrated with colour reproductions of fine violins (32 fullcolour-pages).
