English · Paperback / Softback

Description

Regional tourism development is no more an isolated process. It encompasses the whole system and its subsystems in which it functions. Therefore, tourism development planning needs an integrated planning approach encompassing all the subsystems of the system, such as, socio-economic, physical, infrastructure, institution, ecology and environment. The authors have made an effort to integrate the major control parameters of all these subsystems, which influence tourism development in a tourism resource rich region (system) with tourism for the development of tourism in the region and the region as whole, where tourism shall act as a catalyst. Systems concept and System Dynamics modelling approach were employed in this tourism development planning process. The authors believe that this concept and the planning approach developed and presented in this book shall provide new avenues to the regional and tourism development planners and policy makers to arrive at judicious and strategic decisions for the development of tourism and the region as a whole in a tourism resource rich region.
