Rolf-Dieter Müller, geboren 1948, Studium der Geschichte, Politikwissenschaft und Pädagogik in Braunschweig und Mainz; 1981 Promotion; 1999 Habilitation. Er ist Mitarbeiter des Militärgeschichtlichen Forschungsamts der Bundeswehr in Potsdam und Professor für Militärgeschichte an der HU Berlin.
