Mit 81 Jahren noch kein bisschen müde, mit einem Leistungsausweis von nicht weniger als 86 LPs und CDs und mit über 5000 weltweit gespielten Live-Shows gehört Mayall zu den einflussreichsten und dauerhaftesten Protagonisten der internationalen Blues- und Rockszene. 1966 kam das Album "Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton" heraus, auf dem Mayall mit einer Mischung aus gefühlvollem Rock und kraftvollem, gitarrengetriebenem US-Blues faszinierte. Das Album war ein Hit und machte Clapton zum Star. Sein letztes Album "The Sun is Shining Down" kam 2022 heraus. Er verstarb am 22. Juli 2024 im Alter von 90 Jahren in Los Angeles, Kalifornien.
