About the author

Philippa Pearce wurde 1920 in Great Shelford in England geboren. Nach ihrem Studium der englischen Literatur in Cambridge arbeitete sie unter anderem als Redakteurin bei der BBC und der Oxford University Press. Anfang der 50er Jahre begann sie, Kinder- und Jugendbücher zu schreiben, für die sie in England mehrfach ausgezeichnet wurde.
