About the author

Julian Barnes (1946) debuteerde in 1980 met Metroland. Hij heeft voor zijn boeken vele prijzen gekregen, hij is de enige auteur die zowel de Prix Médicis als de Prix Femina heeft gewonnen. In 2011 ontving hij de prestigieuze David Cohen Prize for Literature, een tweejaarlijkse Britse oeuvreprijs. Al vier keer stond hij op de shortlist voor de Man Booker Prize. Met zijn roman Alsof het voorbij is won hij die prijs ook daadwerkelijk.
