This research paper (dissertation) was prepared and submitted by the Author in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of the Degree of Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Maritime Law, at the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI), Malta. During preparation of the original work, the Maritime boundary dispute between Bangladesh and Myanmar was a pending litigation before the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS). Accordingly, later on, Author had to update his work to keep consistency with the latest ITLOS decision on the issue. Hence, this is the updated version of the aforesaid dissertation.

The author Kazi Arifuzzaman is serving as a Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Law,Justice & Parliamentary Affairs,Government of Bangladesh.He did LL.B(Hon's) & LL.M from the University of Dhaka,Bangladesh.He also obtained LL.M (with distinction) in International Maritime law from IMO-International Maritime Law Institute(IMLI), Malta in 2011.
