Summary

The German naturalist Fritz Müller (1821–97) was an early supporter of Charles Darwin. Müller's research in Brazil on crustaceans provided important evidence for Darwin's theory of evolution. First published in German in 1864, his book is reissued here in its 1869 English translation, for which Darwin personally provided support.
