125 Gower Street, 1883.
Sidney Grice is London's foremost personal detective. Called away to Yorkshire, he leaves his ward, March Middleton, to run his house. But hearth and home hold little charm for March, who harbours dreams of becoming London's foremost, and first, lady detective.
So, when a mysterious letter arrives from her long-lost uncle, she accepts his invitation to stay at the palatial Saturn Villa. Her new Uncle Tolly is sweet, eccentric and - come the morning - very, very dead. But March is not called upon to solve the case, instead she's in the frame for murder.

About the author

M.R.C. Kasasian was raised in Lancashire. He has had careers as varied as a factory hand, wine waiter, veterinary assistant, fairground worker and dentist. He is the author of the much loved Gower Street Detective series, five books featuring personal detective Sidney Grice and his ward March Middleton. The first book in his new series, Betty Church and the Suffolk Vampire, is set in a sleepy seaside town during World War II and is out this year. He lives with his wife, in Suffolk in the summer and in Malta in the winter.

Summary

March Middleton is accused of murder in the next sparkling instalment in the Gower Street Detective series.

Additional text

'The series has achieved a significant following due in some part to the author's brisk and fluid style, sharp, short chapters adequately paced, and due in greater part to the humorously arrogant antics of the detective at the center of the series, one Sidney Grice. If you're a fan, you'll love the dynamism in this one' Bookgasm.

Report

'The story rushes along at a ripping rate, embellished by Grice's wonderfully fierce wit and moments that make us wonder how it was all done. The novel itself may be a fast, easy read but the solution to the crime is complex and not as obvious as a couple of the twists' The Bookbag
