Peace of Abraham, a musical narrative

Narratives about the patriarch Abraham, written during the first millennium BCE, may be counted as the most influential epic of the pre-Christian and pre-Islamic Near East. In our days this epic frequently seems to be a cause of religious strife and warfare. Three thousand years ago it was a source for cultural and religious reform. It helped moderate slavery and abolish cultic human sacrifice. Emphasizing today its "peace" function once again, seems worth singing about.

Jonas Nordwall, author of the organ accompaniments, is a celebrated concert organist with appearances in North America, Europe, Japan and China.
