About the author

Ricardo Piglia wurde 1941 in Adrogue nahe Buenos Aires geboren. Seit seinem Debüt 1967 mit "La invasión" machte er sich mit zahlreichen Romanen und Kurzgeschichten einen Namen und gilt in seiner Heimat längst als moderner Klassiker. 1998 gelang ihm der Vorstoß in die Kinowelt mit dem Drehbuch zu dem Film "La sonambula" von Fernando Spiner, der mit dem Preis des argentinischen Nationalen Instituts für Filmkunst ausgezeichnet wurde. Auch seine Arbeiten als Kritiker und Essayist machten ihn zu einem der berühmtesten Autoren Argentiniens, entgegen dem Willen des Militärregimes, das lange Zeit versuchte, ihn zum Schweigen zu bringen. An den amerikanischen Universitäten Princeton und Harvard lehrte Ricardo Piglia Literatur und Film, von der Universidad de Buenos Aires wurde er zum Ehrenprofessor ernannt. Im Jahr 2015 wurde ihm der Premio Formentor de las Letras verliehen. Heute lebt und arbeitet er in Buenos Aires.
