Centenarians are very often associated with longevity due to the fact that the average global life expectancy is less than 100 years. Someone who attains the age of 110 or more is usually said to be a supercentenarian and this has been achieved by about one in 1,000 centenarians. People who lived beyond 115 years are even rarer and as of October 2012, there are only 28 people in recorded history who have reached this age while the oldest person who has been recorded was Jeanne Calment who were born in 1875 and died in 1997 at the age of 122 years and 164 days...
