The Establishment of the Tembisa Respite and Community Care Centre (TRCC) for HIV/AIDS infected and affected persons is a project management model for HIV and AIDS care and support that arose from the dire situation observed in Tembisa, one of the poor townships of Johannesburg in South Africa. Both the sick and their caregivers showed symptoms of inability to cope with the stresses of battling with HIV and AIDS and the consequent burden of disease. The model attracted the attention of some benefactors who are contributing towards the construction of a child care centre as a component of the TRCC. The book is a practical approach to providing assistance to both the sick and those caring for them at community level. It is a concept that has potential for replication as a response to local needs for caring and supporting HIV and AIDS infected and affected persons.
