Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The 2006 Canadian census determined that there were 50,500 Canadians of Armenian ancestry and 30,130 had Armenian as their mother tongue. A large part of the Armenian diaspora in Canada came from Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, and other nations in the Middle East. Canada has also seen increased immigration from Armenia, especially after the collapse of the Soviet Union. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Armenians who had escaped persecution from the Armenian Genocide settled in communities in southern Ontario.
