This book deals with teaching of Social Studies in the Secondary level of Nepalese schools, concentrating on "How does a teacher establish inter-disciplinary linkage between the various disciplines?" The teachers teaching social studies were selected as respondents for in-depth interview and their classroom teaching were observed. The author found that teachers having sound academic background and experience were able to link the different disciplines in teaching social studies. She observed the following findings: magnitude of interdisciplinary linkages in teaching social studies, connection between teachers' academic background and his/her style in teaching social studies, problems encountered in maintaining interdisciplinary linkage, and the measures to resolve the encountered problems in the given context. She drew further the following concluding trends such as the possibility to merge the difficult units of social studies disciplines such as history, geography, and economics into one. Teachers' qualification and exposure ensure pedagogical linkages. Different types of questions used as evaluative measures ensure interdisciplinary linkages between different disciplines.
