Television role in Extension - Role of Television in the Dissemination of Agricultural Technologies among the Farmers of Nasirabad, Balochistan

It is the need of the time to disseminate the improved knowledge of agriculture among the farming community in an understandable form and in the shortest possible time. In this context. television seems to be one of the most effective and efficient media. In Pakistan, television is used efficiently for agricultural purposes. Various weekly and daily programs both by the Govt. and private agencies are being telecasted on various channels of television. Effectiveness of these programs can only be judged through the opinion of the farming community. With this idea in mind the present study was undertaken to find out the role of television in the dissemination of agricultural technologies among the farming community. The findings of the present study will develop an understanding of agricultural programmes broad casted through television in Pakistan.

About the author

The author had Masters degree in agricultural extension from Balochistan Agriculture College, Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan. She worked several years with agriculture extension department of Balochistan Government. Presently she is involved with a NGO working on women those engaged in agriculture and livestock development.
