The rapid urbanization in Bangladesh is continuously pressurizing the urban environment and has resulted the deterioration of its environment. These environmental issues are required to be focused in the secondary cities or municipalities because these institutions are lack of proper managerial and technical capabilities in environmental point of views.An appropriate Environmental Management System (EMS) can release the pressure on environment and provide better quality of services efficiently. To develop an appropriate EMS,it is required to determine the quality of services and the existing environmental issues and its management. The environmental Management Initiatives in the Municipalities will help to reduce the environmental degradation and would be useful for sustainable Development.

Haque Sultana was born on November 4, 1973 in Bangladesh.She is a graduated in Civil Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET),Bangladesh and has Masters in Urban Environmental Management from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT),Thailand. Currently She is Employed by Local Government Engineering Department,Bangladesh
