Reports from studies said that prevalence rates among women were from 5% to 25%, but methodological differences among them make the actual prevalence rate unclear. The prevalence rates among new fathers had been estimated to be between 1% and 25.5%. In general, PPD occurs in women after they have carried a child. Symptoms of the depression include sadness, fatigue, changes in sleeping and eating patterns, reduced libido, crying episodes, anxiety, and irritability.
