The book explores the significance of home among African educated characters in Mungoshi's Waiting for the Rain and Kunyarara Hakusi Kutaura? The exploration is done against the backdrop of the values and sensibilities that Africans celebrate, such as, rootedness, belonging and identity. The characters run away from their poverty stricken homes. Yet they are expected to champion developmental issues in their communities.

About the author

Michael Mazuru is a Lecturer at Great Zimbabwe University in the Department of African Languages and Literature. He teaches Shona Literature, Criticcal Theories and Translation studies.He holds an MA,BA Honours and a BA General from the University of Zimbabwe and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from Zimbabwe Open University.
