The first chapter deals with the introductory aspect of the work while a theoretical background is provided in the second chapter. The third chapter is an empirical work that examines the effect of banks with particular emphasis on their credit function to impact growth in Nigeria. The result encouraged further analysis into other countries in Africa in the fourth chapter. Still on the role of banks, the fifth chapter deals with the level of efficiency of the banks in Africa while the book is concluded in the sixth chapter.

About the author

Dr (Mrs) Roseline Oluitan is a lecturer in the Department of Accounting & Finance, Lagos State University, Nigeria. She completed her Doctoral programme at Brunel University, London. Her experience spans over two decades in banking and academics. She is happily married and blessed with children.
