The study concerns the rights of the minorities amidst development policy interventions, a case of Basongora pastoralists who were at the centre of land conflicts as they claimed ancestral rights to ownership of Queen Elizabeth National Park and other neighboring pasturelands. The study identified the root cause of conflicts in the area, ascertained the outcomes in affecting social economic and political development and also identified possible strategies that are hoped to be adopted and those that had already been adopted to reconcile land claims conflicts in the region. Findings indicated that most ethnic minority groups in Uganda depend on traditional ancestral lands and they have a significant attachment for their survival. Most of them have been dispossessed of their land rights which make them unruly and violent in an effort to regain them. Conclusion was made and various recommendations were put forward.
