SUDS reduce the impact that new - and existing developments have; with respect to surface water discharge.The term "Stormwater Pond" or "Stormwater Treatment Pond" is synonymous with the term "Urban Pond".This treatise investigates the functionality of Stormwater Ponds in the Cape Metropolitan Area.A case study of the Lotus River is presented and recommendations are provided; regarding the strategic Management of Stormwater Ponds.
