J. Manuel Navarrete is doctor in de menselijke geografie (UCL, 2008), gespecialiseerd in milieu en ontwikkeling in Latijns-Amerika. Hij geeft momenteel les aan de Glion University in Zwitserland en zet zijn onderzoeksactiviteiten zelfstandig voort. Zijn huidige onderzoek richt zich op stedelijke milieukwesties in ontwikkelingscontexten.
